7月23日，蚂蚁集团董事长井贤栋在杭州宣布，蚂蚁区块链正式升级为“蚂蚁链”。蚂蚁集团从2015年开始布局区块链，此次升级将重构数字经济的信任体系，让区块链像移动支付一样改变生产和生活。
On July 23, in Hangzhou, the chairman of the ants group, Kenji Io, announced that the ants block chain had officially been upgraded to an ant chain. 井贤栋在发布会上分享了蚂蚁链已取得的三个关键成绩：在技术上，蚂蚁链连续四年每年全球专利申请数始终保持在第1名；在应用上，蚂蚁链已经助力解决了50多个实际场景的信任问题；在商业上，蚂蚁链目前每天“上链量”超过1亿次。
At the launch, Kenji Ii shared three key achievements of the ant chain: technologically, the number of global patent applications for the ant chain remained first for four consecutive years; applied, the ant chain has helped resolve trust issues in more than 50 actual scenarios; and commercially, the ant chain now “uplinks” more than 100 million times a day.
其中，“日上链量”数据此前从未有公司对外披露，这一数据相当于在区块链领域的“日活”。2019年，蚂蚁集团副总裁、蚂蚁链负责人蒋国飞曾经指出，上链量将是衡量数字经济繁荣程度的重要指标。

井贤栋指出，从2004年支付宝诞生伊始，蚂蚁就致力于解决信任这个制约数字经济快速发展的关键痛点问题；2010年，随着蚂蚁小贷、花呗、芝麻信用等产品诞生，蚂蚁开始探索利用数据技术，让信用成为一种财富，推动每个小企业和每个消费者无差别获得普惠金融服务；2015年，蚂蚁集团投身区块链，相信区块链可以重构数字时代的信任体系，希望区块链能像移动支付一样去改变数字时代人们的生产和生活。即便在外界风云变幻的环境中，蚂蚁始终坚持解决真实问题的信念不动摇。
