On June 12, the digital currency community received a shock news. Arkham Intelligence, a block chain analyst, reported that an investor with large amounts of bitcoin, commonly known as the “bitcoin whale”, had suddenly transferred 8,000 bitcoins out of Coinbase's cold wallet after five and a half years of silence, with a current value of $536 million.

According to the information received, this huge transaction occurred on 11 June at 1:26 p.m. UTC time, with block number 847,490. The Bitcoin address “1ABww1...mCSKq” received the 8,000 BTCs and promptly transferred them to the Binance Exchange deposit address “15u4H...rMsla” after just one block and 11 minutes.
这8000枚比特币最早是在2018年12月5日通过数十次转账进入Coinbase冷存储钱包的，主要采取的是每批200枚BTC的方式。如此长期沉寂的大额比特币地址突然变得活跃，尤其是将比特币转移到交易所的存款地址，往往被市场解读为出售的信号。
The 8,000 bitcoins were first transferred to Coinbase cold wallets through dozens of transfers on 5 December 2018, mainly in the form of 200 BTCs per batch. This long-silent, large bitcoin address suddenly became active, especially when it was transferred to the exchange’s deposit address, often interpreted by the market as a sign of sale.

Although it is not yet clear whether the Bitcoin whale has set up BTC, the deal no doubt marks a sharp rise in the value of the bitcoins, almost 1,700 per cent, since they were purchased at $3750 on 5 December 2018.

On May 12, two associated Bitcoins’ wallets were transferred in large amounts, amounting to 1,000 bitcoins, at that time worth US$61 million. Just a week ago, a wallet belonging to Ben-Hearing among Bitcoins’ founders transferred 687 bitcoins to two different addresses, worth nearly US$44 million.

Despite the early activation of the Bitcoins wallets every month, Chainalysis and Fortune reported in a joint report issued on 24 April that nearly 1.8 million bitcoins had remained silent for the past 10 years. These wallets (excluding the middle-blind wallets) were valued at $121 billion at current prices. However, since many wallet owners had lost or forgotten the seed phrases needed to access their bitcoins, it was still unknown whether they could be successfully retrieved.

It is noteworthy that, despite a recent wave of price collapses in Bitcoin, from a local high of $71,650 on 7 June to $66250 on 11 June, which fell by 7.5 per cent, the fear and greed index of encoded market mood tracking remains in the “grace” region, with a total score of 74 points (up to 100 points), indicating that market participants remain optimistic about the future of digital money.
