It is not surprising that Ether's plan to merge into the Certificate of Interests (PoS) on September 15, 2022 has led to speculation about the division of the Ether (ETHW) workload certificate (POW). While most people in the community support hard splits to modify the transaction records of the network in order to render ineffective the behaviour of the attackers, some believe that no changes should be made to the chain status. The fork version of the network has become today’s Ether chain, while the user group opposed to the fork continues to use the version of the network that the DAO attackers successfully attacked, which is now a classic.

Despite these differences, the Etherton classic presents a completely new, proven Ethernet variant that, if it combines to produce hard fork, users, developers, and miners can make a seamless transition to it.
