据JPEX官网，JPEX自称是“一间持牌，并受认可的数字资产、虚拟货币平台，旨在提供安全可靠的国际买币平台”。JPEX提供了多种加密货币理财产品，宣称“低风险、稳定回报、高度灵活”，收益率高达20%。

香港证监会去年7月就已将JPEX列入无牌公司及可疑网站名单，并在今年9月13日发出警告声明称，JPEX旗下实体店一概没有获证监会发牌，也没有申领牌照。还列出了JPEX的六个可疑之处，包括为其部分产品提供极高回报、声称取得的牌照上与事实不符等。
The Hong Kong CSRC listed JPEX on the list of non-licensed companies and suspicious websites in July last year, and issued a warning statement on 13 September this year stating that no entity store under JPEX had ever been issued a license or issued a license. 其中，林作是前香港执业大律师，曾参加江苏卫视综艺节目《一站到底》，常在社交平台发表“出位”言论。7月，他宣称“申请称为JPEX合伙人”，并在8月底以每月约26万港元的租金开设了一间场外加密货币找换店“林作炒币”。陈怡的YouTube账号则有超过22万订阅者，2021年开设加密货币找换店“陈大怡 cyotc”，并多次为JPEX作宣传。
In July, he declared that he had “applyed to be a JPEX partner” and at the end of August opened an off-the-shelf exchange for an encrypted currency, “Lin” at a monthly rent of approximately HK$260,000. Chen Yi’s YouTube account had more than 220,000 subscribers, set up an encrypted currency exchange, “Cyotc Chen” in 2021, and promoted JPEX on several occasions.
9月18日，林作和陈怡以涉嫌“串谋诈骗”被香港警方拘捕，包括张智霖在内的多个明星和网红在随后几日被要求协助调查。张智霖的经纪公司表示，2022年3月张智霖为JPEX拍摄广告后，由于得知JPEX被香港证监会列入“无牌公司及可疑网站名单”，已于去年9月正式通知广告代理公司终止与JPEX的合作协议。
On September 18, Lin and Chen Yi were arrested by the Hong Kong police on suspicion of “conspiracy” and several stars, including Zhang Ji-hwan, were asked to assist in the investigation in the following days. Zhang Ji-hwan’s brokerage company informed the Hong Kong Censorship Board in September of the termination of the cooperation agreement with JPEX after Zhang had made an advertisement for JPEX in March 2022.
