GameLook报道/元宇宙这一概念在过去几年里一直保持着相当的热度,即便是经过了早期概念的狂热,一部分尚未成熟的产品发布以及该领域头部公司的各种不幸,不少企业依旧在向着这一领域冲锋,从而能够在“元宇宙”所谓的“下一代社会基础设施”成型前抢占一席之地。

12月20日,就有一家原本以网络游戏开发作为主的日本公司monoAI,通过推出虚拟空间平台“XR Cloud”,转型成为元宇宙公司,并成功上市。
On 20 December, a Japanese company, MonoAI, originally based on the development of cyber games, transformed itself into a WonCosmos company by launching the virtual space platform “XR Cloud”.
作为成立于2013年的日本公司,monoAI最开始主要与Cygames、光荣特库摩等公司合作,开发主机游戏、手机游戏等,monoAI2013年发布的游戏引擎monobit也在推出后也陆续获得了索尼Playstation Vita、任天堂3DS、任天堂Switch的开发许可。

不过虽然游戏引擎monobit曾经在游戏研发领域出现了高光时刻,但后续monoAI的游戏开发部门大多也只进行了一些UI设计、背景模型等游戏外包工作。

随后2018年12月,通过收购游戏AI公司Morikatron,monoAI还将公司的业务拓展至了AIQA,只不过在2021年2月monoAI将AIQA业务剥离,成立了子公司AIQVE ONE。

对于元宇宙这一概念,在官方文档中,monoAI将其比作是19世纪工业革命的“铁路”、20世纪信息革命的“互联网”,并将公司的使命确立为“在元宇宙中创造娱乐和社会的未来。”

不过虽说概念无限高大上,作为一款已经公布两年有余的产品,目前“XR Cloud”还是主要以B2B服务为主,与网易的“瑶台”类似,主要举办一些与第三方企业、团体合作的大型线上活动。
